Faced with a global scenario that demands production efficiency and environmental responsibility, Brazilian agribusiness is moving towards more innovative and sustainable models. It is in this context that Laborsan Agro, in partnership with Embrapa Maize and Sorghum, held the Regional Meeting on ESG and Sustainability in the Maize & Sorghum Production Chain, on November 25, in Sete Lagoas (MG).

The event brought together researchers, experts, leaders and representatives of companies and institutions to discuss how ESG principles - Environmental, Social and Governance - can boost the competitiveness and credibility of Brazilian agribusiness.
ESG as a strategic differentiator for agribusiness
With an intensive program throughout the day, the meeting covered topics that highlight ESG as a pillar of innovation and continuity in the field. Among the topics were sustainable agriculture and zero carbon, responsible automation and logistics, circular economy, reuse and reverse logistics of materials, biofuels, as well as social inclusion and ethical governance projects.
The proposal was to strengthen the exchange between science and the market, promoting practical initiatives that connect innovation, productivity and sustainability, in line with the global goals of decarbonization and efficiency.

"More than a concept, ESG is a competitive differentiator for Brazilian agribusiness. The companies that understand this first will be at the forefront of innovation and international credibility. Our role is to help make this transformation happen in an integrated way, with responsibility and a long-term vision," says Milton Ribeiro, COO of Laborsan Agro.
Integration and purpose
The Regional Meeting on ESG and Sustainability in the Maize & Sorghum Production Chain was a point of convergence between different links in the agro-industrial chain, encouraging dialogue between public institutions, private companies and research centers.
The initiative reinforces the commitment of the organizations involved to a more sustainable and competitive agribusiness, aligned with good global governance practices.
"With this meeting, we reaffirm our mission to inspire and foster practices that consolidate a more ethical, efficient and prepared agribusiness for the challenges of the coming decades," concludes Milton Ribeiro, COO of Laborsan Agro.
Protagonism and commitment to transformation
In 2025, Laborsan Agro launched its first Sustainability Report for the year 2024, based on the guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). The document consolidates important advances, such as the 19% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, the 54% increase in female team members and the launch of LabFix G5 Eco, a biodegradable polymer free of microplastics.

These results and practices served as a reference during the Regional Meeting on ESG and Sustainability in the Maize & Sorghum Production Chain, reinforcing the company's leading role in building a more conscious and innovative agribusiness. More than just discussing the topic, the company shared practical experiences of applying ESG policies, demonstrating that sustainability and competitiveness go hand in hand.
With a solid governance structure, supported by a Sustainability and ESG Committee and ISO 9001, ISO 14001, Green Seal, Environmental Labeling and GPTW certifications, the company proves that sustainable discourse translates into real results. Its performance at the event symbolizes the continuity of work that inspires and engages the agricultural sector towards a more ethical, efficient and sustainable future.
